Located on Edgewood Lane in Los Altos, California resides a Spanish Homestead that was built in 1840. This historic home was later purchased by Sara Winchester, the widow of the famous firearms manufacturer, in 1872. Sara Winchester had major renovation done to this home during the Greek Revival period. The home was later given to Sara's sister and a girl's school occupied the location during the turn of the century. The home on Edgewood Lane is now on the Historic Register and the lamp pictured here was discovered by a later occupant of this historic home during his childhood. Sara Winchester is probably better known for the other home that she had constructed during her occupation of the Edgewood estate in 1884. More fascinating information about the Winchester Mystery House can be found by clicking here. Though unmarked, this lamp was probably made by General Electric. |
